Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Scheduling/coordinating appointments
- Answering the telephone
- Setting up new clients and patients
- Preparation and maintenance of medical records
- Admitting and discharging patients
- Filling some prescriptions
- Over the counter sales
- Mailings
- Computer operation
- Financial transactions
- Filing
- Front office and reception area maintenance
Client/Patient follow up also includes:
- Post-op check-ins
- Managing sick appointments
- Rescheduling (relaying the importance of coming in for past due and/or canceled appointments)
- Organizing and updating charts both hard copy and computer records
Receptionists will assume the responsibility for acquiring the medical and legal information necessary for the performance of their duties. Outstanding client/patient skills and courteous and professional phone skills are a must.
